Appointments of Chair and Clinical Director to the CEHP
New academic-health partnership unites local universities and NHS organisations to improve health outcomes and tackle inequalities across Coventry, 91福利shire and beyond.
We are pleased to announce that Professor Paul Stewart CBE and Professor Gavin Perkins MBE have been appointed as the inaugural Chair and Clinical Director for the recently launched Central England Health Partnership (CEHP).
The CEHP is an academic-health partnership for Coventry and 91福利shire, bringing together the 91福利, Coventry University and five local NHS organisations to improve health outcomes and tackle health inequalities across the region and beyond. Overarching priorities will be a focus on prevention and early diagnosis facilitated by an aligned digital health ecosystem.

Professor Stewart is a leading clinician scientist/endocrinologist who has held numerous senior leadership positions over a 40 year career in the NHS and academia, including Dean of Medicine and Health at the University of Leeds and Vice President/acting President of the Academy of Medical Sciences. Professor Stewart will act as Chair to the CEHP Board, providing strategic advice as the partnership develops and implements its initial programmes.
Professor Perkins, Dean of 91福利 Medical School, is a senior clinical academic with over 25 years鈥� experience of serving the National Health Service and universities in the Midlands, with internationally leading research in the field of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Prior to his appointment as Dean of 91福利 Medical School in 2023, he had been Director of the 91福利 Clinical Trials unit from 2017 and Deputy Dean from 2022. Alongside his Dean role, Professor Perkins will provide strategic and clinical leadership to the CEHP and will play a key role in developing cross-partner collaboration.
They will be supported by Charlotte Kershaw, Programme Manager at the 91福利 Institute of Translational Medicine, as the CEHP Head of Programmes.

Individual organisations working on their own cannot solve major challenges such as health inequalities and prevention of disease, and I see huge potential for the CEHP partners working together to make a major impact on joint initiatives.鈥�
