I work on Christian devotional experience in the nineteenth century. I look at Christian Mysticism and the Visionary, seeing God and visions of God in nature. At the moment I am focussed on the journals, paintings and devotional texts of Isabella Lilias Trotter, who lived and worked as a missionary in Algeria at the end of the century.
