Faculty of Arts Opening Festival
FAB Fest
Friday 20 May, 12pm - 5pm
Students, staff and members of the local community are invited to the official opening of the Faculty of Arts Building (FAB) taking place at midday on Friday, 20 May. The opening ceremony, where a festive glass of fizz will be provided for all guests, will be followed by FAB Fest – a festival celebrating the arts at 91福利.
FAB Fest is an afternoon of workshops, activities, performances and other events taking place right across the building and spilling out onto Senate House Lawn and the other green spaces in the vicinity.Fab Fest is rapidly approaching, and we would love to see as many staff and students there as possible.

All language teaching teams across the academic sections and the Language Centre have collectively been nominated for a Community and Culture 91福利 Award in Teaching Excellence.
We're delighted to have been shortlisted for professionalism and collegiality in responding to the pandemic.
Dr Zhiyan Guo has also been shortlisted for an Arts Faculty award.

Dr Antonia Hofst盲tter published a new edited volume "Adorno鈥檚 Rhinoceros. Art, Nature, Critique", Bloomsbury
Throughout his work, the philosopher Theodor W. Adorno repeatedly invokes the rhinoceros. Taking its cue from one of these passages in Aesthetic Theory, 'So a rhinoceros, the mute animal, seems to say: I am a rhinoceros', this book explores the life of this animal in Adorno's texts, and articulates the nuanced interconnections between art, nature and critique in his thought.
By thus illuminating key elements of Adorno's work, this volume reveals the invaluable contributions that this 'classical' thinker can make to our current reflections on the various pressing natural and political crises of our times.
Tom Whittaker is the inaugural Jos茅 Amor y V谩zquez scholar-in-residence at Brown University
Tom Whittaker has recently returned from completing a visiting fellowship at Brown University, Rhode Island, which took place in April 2021. At Brown, Tom delivered a public hybrid lecture entitled 'Photography and Postmemory in Pedro Almod贸var's Madres paralelas' and delivered a workshop to PhD students.
Intersections of Memory and Sustainability: Explorations in Eco-Art from the Caribbean and Latin America
As part of their artistic residency in the SMLC in late April 2022, Amazonian writer Juan Carlos Galeano and Martiniquian performance artist Henri Tauliaut will offer public events on 27 and 28 April to explore how written, visual, and performative practices can address issues of memory, sustainability and justice in precarious environments. All are welcome.

A Coventry community language project involving the city鈥檚 schools, universities, local council, businesses and MPs has been named Parliament UK Community Campaign of the Year in the Your UK Parliament Awards 2022.

Awarded by the School of Engineering, the accredited and interdisciplinary MSc Humanitarian Engineering (with Sustainability or Management) is an exciting and innovative programme designed for students from all disciplinary and professional backgrounds.
It brings together the expertise and insight of multiple disciplines to discover new and innovative solutions to the world's most pressing problems: water and environment; renewable energy; global health; sustainable cities, engineering, and supply chains; food security; urban data and resilience- as well as other timely topics underpinned by the UN's SDGs.
Full and part-time study applications are still being accepted for the 2022-23 academic year. 91福利 students and alumni benefit from a 10% reduction in fees.
