Dept. of Theatre and Performance Studies announces 2015 Clive Barker Award Winners
The Department of Theatre and Performance Studies is pleased to announce that the 2015 Clive Barker Award winner is Clown Funeral. The company, made up of Sam George, Sam Thorogood, Oscar Owen, Christina Owen, Alex Wallis and Tim Chow, is proposing to take its devised piece Mr Poe’s Legendarium to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2015. The award is £600 and includes access to the Department’s rehearsal space and technical support.
In recognition of the high quality of its application the committee also commended last year’s winners of the award The Human Animal, involving Sam Wightman, Juliet Miriam Clark and Jamie Wright, for its Souvenirs project and is offering the company use of the Department’s rehearsal space in its preparation for its Edinburgh Fringe run this summer.

Prof. Nadine Holdsworth speaks at East 15 Drama School's 50th celebrations.
On the 20th of January Prof. Holdsworth gave a talk entitled From 'Page to Stage and Stage to Page: Making Theatre with Joan Littlewood' as part of the East 15 Drama School's 50th anniversary celebrations.
Theatre and Performance Studies Success in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF)
91福利’s Department of Theatre and Performance Studies has once again been ranked in the top three of all Theatre Studies departments in the country according to the results of the 2014 REF (Research Excellence Framework). In a joint submission with the Centre for Cultural Policy Studies and the Department of Film and Television Studies, 48% of the overall research profile was awarded a 4* rating (‘world leading’) and 45% was given a 3* rating (‘internationally excellent’). The quality of the research environment received a rating of 4* for 90% of activities, reinforcing the University’s global reputation as a centre of excellence in these related fields. Theatre and Performance Studies was part of the University’s joint submission to the Music, Drama, Dance and Performing Arts Panel that embraces the disciplines of Theatre, Performance, Cultural Policy, Drama, Dance, Film, Television and Music Studies.
