IAS Early Career Fellows, Dr Yanyan Li and Shaoyu Yang, Awarded Funding to Develop Wellbeing Programme for Researchers
Two Early-Career Fellows, Dr Yanyan Li and Shaoyu Yang, have secured £9,996.40 from the Enhancing Research Culture Fund for their project, 'Creating Trauma-Oriented Coping Strategies for Researchers Experiencing Vicarious Trauma Arising from Conducting Emotionally Challenging Research'.
In collaboration with Dr Helen Nolan (Associate Professor, 91¸£Àû Medical School) and Denver Thrope (Staff Wellbeing Coordinator, Wellbeing Services), they will design a wellbeing programme focused on navigating vicarious trauma and develop an open-access online repository of trauma-oriented coping tools and resources.
This project addresses the growing need for structured, trauma-informed support for researchers who experience vicarious trauma while conducting emotionally challenging work. It aims to establish a lasting, accessible support system that enhances researcher wellbeing and improves the sustainability of trauma-related academic work across the University.
