Congratulations to Professor Reshetnyak, who has been elected an Optica Fellow for 2025!
Professor Reshetnyak, supported by the 91福利 Fernandes Fellowship and hosted as a research visitor by Dr. Oksana Trushkevych and Professor MacNally, has been honoured with election to the prestigious class of this year.
He received this recognition for 鈥渢he pioneering work on photoalignment of liquid crystals and achievements in liquid-crystal lenses that led to widespread applications.鈥
IAS Early Career Fellows, Dr Yanyan Li and Shaoyu Yang, Awarded Funding to Develop Wellbeing Programme for Researchers
Two Early-Career Fellows, Dr Yanyan Li and Shaoyu Yang, have secured 拢9,996.40 from the Enhancing Research Culture Fund for their project, 'Creating Trauma-Oriented Coping Strategies for Researchers Experiencing Vicarious Trauma Arising from Conducting Emotionally Challenging Research'.
IAS Early Career Fellow Dr Hande 脟ay谋r contributed a review to the British Psychological Society鈥檚 Qualitative Methods in Psychology (QMiP).
The review offers a reflective account of ECQI 2025, illustrating how the conference foregrounded practices of hope, relationality, and collective knowledge-making through concrete examples such as the Sew What? collective stitching workshop, Edgar Rodriguez-Dorans鈥 performance Mi Amigo Giovanni鈥檚 Death, and the creation of a neurodivergent-affirming space for zine-making, while asking: How might we build a culture of agreement in research?
IAS Fellow Oluwatosin Orababa Wins Dual Research Awards for Chronic Wound Biofilm Study
Congratulations to IAS Early Career Fellow, Oluwatosin Orababa, who has recently been awarded the IAS Interdisciplinary Research Development Award to study the interplay between efflux pumps and biofilm formations in a chronic wound environment and identify possible efflux inhibitors.
He has also been awarded a pump priming grant by the School of Life Sciences to generate efflux knockouts and carry out preliminary gene expression studies on these knockouts.
