International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), Public Celebration Event - 23rd June

On Tuesday, 23 June, the School of Engineering will be hosting an event to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) 2026.
This year’s global theme is Engineering Intelligence ()

This is a free public event. All genders are welcome.

🌟 Event Theme
The event will explore: Engineering Intelligence: Human versus AI
The programme will include:

  • A workshop on Engineering Intelligence
  • An interactive voting session to identify whether a design was created by a human or AI
  • Discussions on AI prompts and best practices

ðŸÕÊ Featured Workshop
The workshop will be led by Kerry Evans, and will explore:

  • The evolving role of engineers in an AI-driven world
  • Challenges, ethics, and potential pitfalls
  • Whether engineers remain essential as AI becomes embedded in practice
  • How we learn and adapt to this new way of working

Kerry Evans is a Chartered Engineer and Director of Highways at Eco-Scope, with over 20 years’ experience in highways. She is highly active across professional institutions and was awarded the Women’s Engineering Society Karen Burt Memorial Award (2024). Kerry has recently contributed to discussions on Artificial Intelligence and Engineering Intelligence at the Women in Engineering Society Conference.
