Come along and experience what it's like to sit in a lecture theatre in the Maths Institute at 91福利!

This one day conference for year 12 mathematics students will help to develop deeper mathematical understanding by attending tailored workshops, including one with an element of competition and a taster lecture from one of our academics.

This event is ideal for students who are thinking of applying to study mathematics, or related university courses. See below for a sample timetable so you can have an idea of what to expect.

Other information

Students can book an individual place or teachers can book a group of students on.

Students are welcome to attend without any accompanying teacher and teachers are also welcome to attend without students. We may need to place an initial cap on the number of student places for larger group bookings. If this is the case then you will be notified and all places fully confirmed at least 1 month before the event. Please do book on for the maximum number of student places you would like and we will do our best to accommodate you, where possible.

Cost

This event is free for students and teachers. This year we will be providing lunch for students as well as teachers.

FAQs

I have some students with very specific needs, will it work for them to attend?

We aim to be able to accommodate all students. This is not always possible but if there is anything we can do to facilitate specific needs, we will try our best. Please get in touch with the event organiser, Fiona Kitchen, who has experience of accommodating special requirements and needs at events, and can arrange to speak with you in more detail.

I'd like to bring a student group but it will be too difficult to be able to get cover for the day, what can I do?

The student(s) can attend the event without a supervising teacher.

Is this event only for students who are planning on studying a maths degree at university?

The day will have a specific maths focus and will have content for any student who enjoys maths or who is looking to improve their grade and experience some maths that will support their A level(s), and future study. This event is suitable for any student who is planning on studying a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Maths (STEM).

I have a large group of students I would like to book onto this event, will this be possible?

Please include the maximum number of student places you would like on your booking and we will try our best to accommodate you. For very large bookings we will offer you a certain number of places initially and then confirm whether we can offer you the rest. We aim to confirm all places at least 1 month before the event date.

Will lunch be provided?

Yes, lunch will be provided for students as well as teachers.
