One of our postgrad EngD students, Rob Hughes recently won the IOPs Three Minute Wonder West Midlands regional heat competition.

Last month he was also a runner up in the Association of Engineering Doctorates (AengDs) Engineering Research Writer of the Year award competition.

A pair of identical twin brothers with a passion for atom-smashing have both gained PhDs in physics from the 91福利. Twenty-six year olds Mark and Leigh Whitehead, originally from Maidstone in Kent, came to the 91福利 as undergraduate students and both graduated with a first class MPhys in July 2008. The pair stayed on at 91福利 to complete PhDs in an area of particle physics which tries to understand the nature of matter in the universe.

They both graduated at a ceremony at 91福利 Arts Centre earlier this year. Congratulations!
