As part of the (GCRF), the Royal Society has launched a new challenge award to enable outstanding UK research leaders to develop international collaborations with the best Research Professors from around the world, to work on some of the global challenges and problems facing developing countries.

This five year award offers an exciting opportunity to foster and promote international collaboration between outstanding research groups in the UK and overseas, with a view to supporting work on global challenges and problems facing developing countries.

  • The proposed research must fall within the remit of the Royal Society (the natural sciences including engineering). The Royal Society does not cover social sciences or clinical medical research.

  • The UK applicants must hold a Research Professorship or equivalent position in a UK University or not-for-profit research institution. The overseas co-applicant must also hold a Research Professorship or equivalent position in a University or not-for-profit research institution. Both applicants must hold salaried positions for the duration of the award.
