Events in Physics
The British Academy, in collaboration with the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), the National Council for the State Funding Agencies (CONFAP) and the State Funding Agencies (FAPs) in Brazil, and the Academy of Medical Sciences, the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society in UK, under the Newton fund programme, invites applications for its fellowship and research mobility grants. These support UK researchers to spend periods of time working in the fields of natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, medical sciences, and engineering at institutions in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Two types of grants are available:
•visiting researchers – applicants must hold a PhD degree and be a staff member of a university or research institute in UK;
•young investigator – applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent title and have an outstanding research track record, and typically two to five years post-doctoral experience in a research group in the UK.
The fellowship is worth BRL 7,000 per month for young researchers, and BRL 10,000 per month for senior researchers. Funding includes airline tickets, health insurance, a scholarship for an undergraduate researcher to assist the fellow, and a grant amount of BRL 25,000 every six months.
