The Physics of Climate Change and the Environment - a 91福利 physics graduate's view
In the 35 years since I graduated from 91福利 with a physics degree, the science of weather systems and climate change has both occupied my research life as an academic but also it had undergone a revolution in scientific knowledge. In that time chaos theory has overturned the way we think about the prediction of the fluid dynamics of the atmosphere and oceans. Of course the realisation that humans are seriously changing the climate, and the environment more widely, have been scientific discoveries that have had profound society and economic impact. Physics is at the heart of these scientific advances - in this talk we will discuss these advances and the future research challenges we face.
