Events in Physics
The Brazilian State Funding Agencies, articulated by its National Council (CONFAP), and the Royal Society, under the Newton Fund, invite applications for their research mobility grants. These enable UK researchers to develop the strengths and capabilities of their research groups through training, collaboration and reciprocal visits with partners in research groups in Brazil. Research may be in any field of natural sciences, engineering, medical sciences, including clinical or patient-oriented research, social sciences and humanities. Four types of grants are available:
•for UK researchers receiving support from a funding agency outside the state of São Paolo for missions up to 15 days, covering airfares, travel insurance and daily support;
•for UK researchers receiving support from a funding agency outside the state of São Paolo for missions from 16 days up to three months, covering airfares, travel insurance and a monthly scholarship of BRL 7,000;
•for UK researchers receiving support from an institute in the state of São Paolo for missions from seven days up to one month, covering airfares, travel insurance and daily support;
•for UK researchers receiving support from an institute in the state of São Paolo for missions from one month up to 12 months, covering airfares, travel insurance and a monthly scholarship worth up to BRL 10,680 for young researchers and up to BRL 15,870 for full professors.
The applicants must hold a PhD and a permanent academic post or postdoctoral positions in the UK which extends beyond the period of the award. Young researchers must be within two to seven years from their PhD, and senior researchers must have hold a PhD for over seven years. Applications must include a Brazilian-based collaborator as a co-applicant.
