Events in Physics
The Royal Society and the National Natural Science Foundation of China invite applications for the cost-share programme of their international exchanges scheme. This stimulates new collaborations within the natural sciences between scientists in the UK and China, with the aim to build lasting networks and strengthen emerging collaborations. Eligible subjects covered include: physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, engineering, agricultural, biological and medical research, geography and experimental psychology.
Collaborations should be based on a single project involving the UK based applicant and the Chinese co-applicant. Both applicants must have completed a PhD, hold a permanent or fixed term contract in an eligible organisation and be based in their respective countries or institutions at the time of the application. Retired scientists, who are still active in science, may apply. Junior scientists, such as PhD students or postdoctoral researchers, are encouraged to apply.
The Royal Society provides up to 拢12,000 for the UK team鈥檚 airfare to China and the Chinese team鈥檚 subsistence whilst in the UK. Up to 拢2,000 of this amount may be spent on research expenses and consumables. An additional 拢12,000 equivalent is available from NSFC towards the Chinese team鈥檚 airfare to the UK and the UK team鈥檚 subsistence whilst in China. Awards are available for a fixed period of two years. Additional fellowships are also available through the Newton Fund, with the aim of developing long-term sustainable growth and welfare of partner countries through building research and innovation capacity.
