NB subject to quota - in June we will knowhow many Physics can submit. The Science and Technology Facilities Council invites applications for the Ernest Rutherford fellowships. These enable early-career researchers from the UK and overseas to establish an independent research programme. Proposals should be in the fields of astronomy, solar and planetary science, particle physics, particle astrophysics, cosmology and nuclear physics.
Applicants may be of any nationality. They must have a PhD and at least five years research experience from the start of the programme leading to the award of the PhD, and a minimum of two years鈥� postdoctoral experience. Applicants must not yet hold a permanent academic position. Fellowships may be held at any eligible UK research organisation. Candidates returning from a career break or from working outside academic research may apply for a returner fellowship.
Fellowships are tenable for five years and cover all directly incurring costs, including salary, travel, visa costs and equipment and consumables. Up to 12 fellowships are available.
