The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

EPSRC would like to invite the portfolio of CCPs and HEC Consortia, which currently receive core funding from EPSRC, to submit innovative and challenging software development Flagship projects. CCP and Consortia Flagship Projects should be aimed at serving the research community that the CCP or Consortia represents.

The aim of this call is to develop innovative software that addresses new scientific challenges within the EPSRC remit. This will be achieved through Flagship Projects for the CCP and HEC Consortia communities. This call covers:

  • The addition of new functionality to existing codes to address new research challenges.
  • The development and re-engineering of existing codes for emerging hardware architectures.

Up to £3M is available for this call and the EPSRC expect to fund up to six projects. T

The Natural Environment Research Council invites notifications of intent for its third round of highlight topics programme. This supports strategic research on defined topics that help understand environmental change. The highlight topics for this call are:

•quantifying ‘blue carbon’ ecosystem services and assessing human impacts on coastal carbon assimilation, transfer and storage;

•new insights into space weather impact on UK national grounded infrastructure;

•genesis of magmatic-hosted ore deposits: a systems approach;

•modelling and forecasting the earth’s radiation belts;

•innovative applications of big data techniques to natural hazard prediction and risk mitigation.

Research institutes that receive grant funding from one of the UK higher education bodies, and institutes that have a close involvement with research councils are eligible to apply. The principal investigator must be a UK resident, employed by an eligible research organisation as a lecturer or above. NERC staff at band 6 level with at least three years’ postdoctoral experience and employed by the council for at least 12 months may also apply.
