This scheme provides established international researchers with an opportunity to develop the research strengths and capabilities of their research group through training, collaboration and reciprocal visits with a partner in the UK. The skills and knowledge gained should lead to changes in the wellbeing of communities and increased economic benefits. This award is currently available to international early career group leaders to develop their research by linking them with some of the best research groups in the UK.
Available for applicants in China, Malaysia and Mexico

The Royal Society offers Newton International Exchanges as mobility grants to provide international researchers with funding towards travel, subsistence and research expenses for either a one-off short visit to explore opportunities for building lasting networks or for bilateral visits to strengthen emerging collaborations. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent research experience and hold a permanent or fixed-term contract in an eligible university or research institute, which must span the duration of the project. Collaborations should focus on a single project involving overseas-based scientist (“the Applicant”) and UK-based scientist (“the Co-applicant”). Available for Malaysia, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand. there are opportunities with China through a cofund arrangment with NSFC. There are opportunities for UK scientists to work with partners overseas in South Africa, Turkey, China, Brazil and Mexico. |

are aimed at individual fellows who already have a doctorate or equivalent experience, Individual Fellowships aim to help experienced researchers to advance their careers and gain new skills through advanced training, international mobility, and optional intersectoral secondments. European Fellowships are held in Member States and are open to researchers either coming to Europe or moving within Europe. Global Fellowships are based on a secondment to a third country and a compulsory 12 month return phase in a Europe host organisation. |

The Laue-Langevin Institute invites proposals for its beamtime allocation. This enables researchers to access neutron beams and instruments at the institute. The following instruments are available: •powder diffractometers – D1B, D2B, D20, SALSA; •disordered materials diffractometer – D4; •polarised neutron diffractometers – D3, D23; •single-crystal diffractometers – D9, D10; •large scale structure diffractometers – D19, LADI; •small-angle scattering – D11, D22, D33; •reflectometers – SuperADAM*, D17, FIGARO; •small momentum-transfer diffractometer – D16; •diffuse-scattering spectrometer – D7; •three-axis spectrometers – IN1-LAGRANGE, IN8, IN12, IN20, IN22, ThALES; •time-of-flight spectrometers – IN4, IN5, IN6-SHARP, BRISP; •backscattering and spin-echo spectrometers – IN11, IN13, IN15, IN16B; •nuclear-physics instruments – PN1; •fundamental-physics instruments – PF1B, PF2, S18; •fission product prompt gamma-ray spectrometer – FIPPS. Proposals from researchers in non-member countries are only considered if they are part of a consortium where at least two thirds of the researchers are from a member country or the institute itself. |

CERN invites applications for its scientific associates programme. This offers the use of research facilities to associates who are on a leave of absence from their host institution, to participate in programmes covering experimental and theoretical particle physics, as well as related activities in applied physics, electronics, computing and engineering. Applicants must remain employed at their home institute during their appointment. No associateship can be awarded less than five years after the end date of an earlier paid associateship, fellowship or staff position at CERN. A subsistence allowance of between CFH 6,293 to CFH 8,913 is provided as well as a family allowance under certain circumstances. The duration of the contract is one year, though extensions may be granted in exceptional cases. |
