This one day workshop will bring together experimentalists, modellers and simulators with interest in the growth of technologically relevant thin film, monolayer, and other low dimensional materials on solid substrates. The diffusion and aggregation of atoms on the solid substrate is inherently long timescale in nature, requiring application of advanced methods to reach the timescales of interest. Developing accurate interaction potentials for the substrate-film interface is also essential. These and other related challenges require a combination of expertise and methodology. It is hoped that this meeting will lead to new collaborations, and identify best practice in simulating systems of this kind. |
