How do I use this calendar?

You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

Applications are now invited for funded access (facility overheads, UK travel and accommodation) to the Octopus and Ultra facilities of the Central Laser Facility (CLF) in the Research Complex at Harwell, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

Access from January 2019 to June 2019.

The Octopus Facility is an advanced imaging facility containing a mixture of in-house built and commercial systems giving unprecedented flexibility to combine multiple beams, multiple colours, and timing capabilities for a range of techniques.

The Ultra Facility combines laser, detector and sample manipulation technology to probe molecular dynamics via a range of techniques. A range of ultrafast light sources provide unprecedented flexibility to combine multiple beams, multiple colours (UV to mid-IR), mixed timing patterns (fs – µs) and pulse lengths (fs – ns).

Attached is a brochure outlining the range of instrumentation and techniques on offer in Octopus and Ultra and also details regarding the call.

For this call, applications are invited for the following modes of access:

 Direct Access and Approved Programmes: Octopus and Ultra
 New programme access: Octopus

The deadline for applications is Monday 16 July 2018

Please carefully read all the instructions in the call attachment before submitting an application.

Applications are made using the STFC online submission system:

Before applying, please note

Applicants are strongly recommended to contact an appropriate Facility staff member to discuss requirements before applying, even if you have previously submitted a proposal.

Eligibility for access to Octopus and Ultra through this call:
