The Science and Technology Facilities Council invites submissions for access to the central laser facility high power lasers. This enables access to the Vulcan target area west and target area petawatt, Gemini target areas 2 and 3, and Orion laser facilities. One slot for Vulcan and one slot for Gemini are funded through LaserLab and open to EU researchers. All other proposals must include at least one co-investigator who is a permanent member of staff at a UK academic institution. Experimental slots of five weeks duration are available in Vulcan and Gemini TA3, although both shorter and longer experiments can be accepted. Longer experimental slots are available in Gemini TA2, typically of nine to 12 weeks duration. Experimental slots in Orion are typically two weeks. Access is for the period between April 2018 and December 2018 for Vulcan and Gemini, and for the period 2019 to 2020 for Orion. |
