Bad weather on Tatooine?

The incredible diversity of worlds beyond our solar system has fueled ambitions to understand the composition and dynamics of exoplanetary atmospheres. Studying planets in double star systems is especially exciting in this respect, as large-scale insolation forcing can occur on relatively short timescales. In this talk, I present first results of self-consistent General Circulation Model calculations of atmospheres of Earth-like circumbinary planets acquired in collaboration with colleagues at the Max Planck Institut for Meteorology in Hamburg, Germany. I will, furthermore, discuss the consequences of coupled planetary and stellar dynamics on climate and habitability of terrestrial planets in binary star systems.
