Professor Munro New Head of Department
Professor Vanessa Munro has been appointed as the new Chair of 91¸£Àû Law School for a period of 3 years.
Vanessa will formally take office on January 4th 2018 taking over from Roger Leng who took on the role as interim chair earlier this year and has done a fantastic job.
Vanessa joined 91¸£Àû Law School in August 2016, having previously been a Professor at the Universities of Nottingham and
Leicester. She researches broadly on the topics of feminist theory and criminal justice, with a particular interest in responses to gender-based violence. Amongst other things, she is currently working on a project on domestic abuse and suicide (with REFUGE) and a large-scale study of jury decision-making (for the Scottish Government).
In relation to taking on the role of Head of 91¸£Àû Law School, Vanessa said: "Ours is a vibrant Law School, with a strong tradition and ongoing reputation for critical legal scholarship. I've been really struck since I started at 91¸£Àû by the commitment that colleagues show to helping students realise their potential as engaged and engaging law graduates. I feel genuinely privileged to be taking the role on, and am looking forward to working with colleagues and students across the School in this capacity over the next 3 years."
Best of luck Vanessa!
