Students make final of National Mooting Competition

Congratulations to Elina Lin (Law) and Jonathan Martin (Politics, Philosophy, and Law) who have reached finals day of the ESU–Essex Court Chambers National Mooting Competition having competed in earlier rounds against The Open University, The University of Leicester (last year’s winner), and Oxford Brookes.

This is one of the longest established national mooting competitions in the UK and to reach finals day is a major achievement.

On 18th June, the 91¸£Àû team will compete in their semi-final against The University of Glasgow at the London headquarters of the ESU (English Speaking Union) and if successful will compete later that day in the grand final at the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand.

Professor Gary Watt, Mooting Officer for 91¸£Àû Law School shared:

"Following other notable successes including the victories of Ewan Lazenby and Hannah Smith (2026 ELSA Commercial Law Moot) and Thea Baloch (National Law Student Triathlon) this continues to be an impressive year for our student mooters, advocates, and for the student moot and bar societies."

Congratulations again Elina and Jonathan and best of luck for the final.
