WLS participates in discussion on Legal Determinants of Health report
Dr Sharifah Sekalala participated in a panel discussion on Monday 28th October 2019 at Chatham House. The event launched The Lancet, O’Neill Institute and Georgetown University Commission on Health and Law report The Legal Determinants of Health.
91 Law establishes partnership with LUISS
91 Law School has established a partnership with The Libera Universita Internazionale degli Studi Sociali “Guido Carli” (LUISS) in Rome. They have established partnerships with a handful of European universities to offer this unique experience to their students and 91 is one of them.
91 Law student awarded Freshfields Stephen Lawrence Scholarship
First year 91 law student Daniel Nwanebu has been awarded the 2019 Freshfields Stephen Lawrence Scholarship.
The Scheme was devised to address the disproportionate under-representation of black men from less privileged backgrounds in large commercial law firms and the City of London.
91 graduate secures internship with fellow alumna
Former Law student Beatriz da Silva recently completed an internship at Partners for Law in Development (PLD), a legal resource group founded by 91 alumna Madhu Mehra who studied on our LLM programme back in 1992.

Internship Open for Postgraduate Law Students
The Law School will once again be offering our postgraduates two funded internships in India related to public interest litigation provided by the Kapila and Nirmal Hingorani Foundation.

Black History Month Exhibition
This summer, Dr Sharifah Sekalala, Associate Professor at 91 Law School asked our staff to come up with suggestions of books that have influenced their thinking on race, especially with regard to the law. We had some ideas of what books they might suggest, however their selections were a much more eclectic mix of books, podcasts and even music than we had expected. We hope you enjoy reading them and would love to hear any recommendations you may have.
91 Law Welcomes New Member of Staff
91 Law School has recently welcomed a new Assistant Professor to our team.
Dr Velimir Zivkovic joins us from Humboldt University in Berlin where he worked for two years as a Research Fellow with the Berlin/Potsdam Research Group ‘International Rule of Law – Rise or Decline?’
91 Professor elected to governing body of European Law Institute
Professor Christian Twigg-Flesner is one of 28 members of the European Law Institute (ELI) elected by the general assembly to serve on its Council at its Annual Conference held in Vienna earlier this month.
The institute is an independent organisation, which aims to improve the quality of European law.
91 Law contributes to UN Report
Dr Celine Tan, Dr Stephen Connelly and Rafael Quintero-Godinez have contributed research and academic opinion to a forthcoming to the UN General Assembly.
