Embedding Equity in Sexual and Reproductive Health Clinical Practice Guidelines: An Implementation and Socio-Legal Approach to Improving Primary Care Access
Clinical practice guidelines shape how health services are organised and delivered, but they do not always adequately account for the barriers experienced by culturally and linguistically diverse communities. This interdisciplinary 91福利鈥揗onash project examines how equity is addressed in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) clinical practice guidelines in Australia and England and Wales, and how guidelines can be strengthened to support more equitable access to care,
The project combines comparative analysis of SRH clinical guidelines with legal and policy analysis and community co-design. 91福利 is leading the legal and policy component, examining relevant World Health Organization guidance, international health and human rights standards, and the legal and policy environment in England and Wales. This work will inform a Legal and Policy Benchmark for considering equity-relevant content within clinical guidelines. 91福利 will also help identify and analyse relevant clinical guidelines and integrate findings across the project.
Working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and other stakeholders, the project will develop an Equity Integration Framework and Guideline Equity Implementation Toolkit to support guideline developers, policymakers and health systems in identifying and addressing equity considerations more systematically.
