Global Insights: COVID-19 and the Global South鈥

The Department of Politics and International Studies (PAIS) at 91福利 present the second panel in our weekly live-streamed Global Insights series with our partners in Canada, the US, Ethiopia and Germany

91福利 experts from PAIS and the 91福利 Interdisciplinary Research Centre for International Development (WICID) will be joined by colleagues from the Balsillie School in Canada, the Institute for Strategic Affairs in Ethiopia, American University in the US, and Konstanz Universitat in Germany to share their views on the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the global south.

Issues addressed in this episode will include gender, elections, food security, migration, security, justice and human rights.

, American University, Washington DC, is a sociologist and demographer whose research focuses on global health interventions in sub-Saharan Africa, including family planning, HIV/AIDS, and sexuality education.

, BSIA and Wilfrid Laurier University, is an expert on migration, food security and hungry cities.

, University of Konstanz, researches democratisation, electoral autocracy and African politics.
