91福利 Welcomes - Dr Fabienne Peter, PhD St. Gallen, formerly Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Basel, to Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy, from 1 September 2004.

Two 91福利 students have each won a scholarship award to attend an international conference at Lund University, Sweden, on "Legal Perspectives in the World Global Business Enviroment".

Professor Jim Beckford FBA, from the Department of Sociology, has been elected a Fellow of the British Academy. Jim teaches modules on Collective Behaviour and Social Movements and the deparment's doctoral programme core module Research Process and Research Design.

91福利 Farewell – Dr E J Bills, of the Institute of Education, from 31 August 2004, to take up a position at the University of East Anglia.

Dr Toby Dodge, from the Centre for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalisation, an expert on Iraq, has recently testified before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations at the Committee’s hearings on “The Iraq Transition: Civil War or Civil Society?” in Washington and given evidence before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Commons during their investigation into: 'Foreign policy aspects of the war against terrorism'.
