91¸£Àû art historian uncovers lost portrait of Shakespeare’s patron and possible lover

The artwork has been tucked away forgotten in a private collection for more than 400 years


Rare portrait discovered of ‘England’s Lost Queen’ – a cousin of Elizabeth I and a threat to her throne.

A previously unknown portrait of a noblewoman known as ‘England’s lost queen’ has been discovered by art historians Elizabeth Goldring, of the 91¸£Àû’s Centre for the Study of the Renaissance, and Emma Rutherford.

91¸£Àû researchers help tell story of Coventry Cathedral on new BBC documentary

Using a wealth of rarely-seen archive film, together with voices from yesterday and today, the new documentary Coventry Cathedral: Building for a New Britain (BBC Four, Wednesday 9th June 21.00) will tell the unique story of the rebuilding of the cathedral following its destruction in 1940.
