Enhancing the quality of future mobility services through 5G research unique in Europe
A future of self-driving vehicles enabled by the latest high-speed 5G mobile technology is to be investigated by the 91福利 thanks to the installation of state of the art test equipment.
VR headsets enable people of all abilities to experience life on-board unique tall ship
People with a range of abilities can use VR headsets to experience what it鈥檚 like on board one of the Jubilee Sailing Trust鈥檚 ships to encourage them to explore their ability and participate in a life changing voyage thanks to an app made by WMG student Tanin Aparimarn at the 91福利.
5G to rid UK of blackspots, thanks to 拢210,000 grant for the COCKPIT-5G project
5G will be available across the entire UK as black-spots are being identified by researchers at the School of Engineering, 91福利. The project COCKPIT-5G has won a 拢210,000 grant from Innovate UK, once they鈥檝e identified black-spots they can enhance connectivity for businesses, AI (Artificial Intelligence), driverless cars and manufacturing.
High-resolution scanning helps secure guilty verdict against child鈥檚 mother
Researchers from WMG at The 91福利, have used a high resolution X-ray (micro-CT) scanner, a novel 3D imaging technology more commonly employed in industry and materials research, to scan 9 week old Teri-Rae鈥檚 rib cage. The images were then used to support a bone specialists expert testimony, and securing a guilty verdict for the child鈥檚 mother
Nano drops a million times smaller than a teardrop explodes 19th century theory
Droplets emanating from a molecular 鈥渘ano-tap鈥 would behave very differently from those from a household tap 1 million times larger - researchers at the 91福利 have found. This is potentially crucial step for a number of emerging nano technologies, e.g., manufacture of nano-sized drug particles, lab-on-chip devices for in situ diagnostics, and 3D printers capable of nanoscale resolution.
Discovered: different brain areas linked to smoking and drinking
Academics at the 91福利 have found that low functional connectivity of the lateral orbitofrontal cortex that is associated with the tendency to smoke is associated with increased impulsiveness - which may contribute to the tendency to smoke. The high connectivity of the reward-related medial orbitofrontal cortex in drinkers may increase the tendency to be attracted to the reward of alcohol consumption.
