91¸£Àû recognised for excellence in cyber security education
The 91¸£Àû is one of eight trailblazing universities to have become the first in the UK to gain recognition for their commitment to cyber security education in a new initiative from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) – a part of GCHQ.
High-rate Li-ion batteries demonstrate superior safety
As the inevitable growth of transport electrification continues, the types of batteries that will be used in such vehicles, their charging parameters, infrastructure and timeframes are key considerations that will speed up the transition to electrification. In the paper, ‘ published in and on the cover of the Journal Batteries, researchers from WMG, 91¸£Àû investigated the impacts on battery cell ageing from high current operation using commercial cells.
Battery ageing model developed by WMG to support all-electric vehicles
Extensive research, carried out by researchers from WMG, 91¸£Àû included characterisation, performance, safety and degradation testing of an EV battery, with degradation being the key focus to understand the impact on battery pack warranty.
91¸£Àû researchers to explore the Milky Way & famous maths problem thanks to major European grant award
The ERC today, the 9th December, announced the winners of its latest Consolidator Grant competition for mid-career researchers. The funding is part of the EU’s current research and innovation programme, Horizon 2020, and worth in total €655 million. With this support, the new grantees will be able to consolidate their teams and have far-reaching impact. The two 91¸£Àû academics who have received the award are Professor David Loeffler, from the Mathematics Institute, and Dr Pier-Emmanuel Tremblay from the Department of Physics.
New centre puts farmer priorities at heart of innovation research
91¸£Àû joins forces with leading UK universities to focus agricultural research where it can make most difference on the ground
Robot hands one step closer to human thanks to WMG AI algorithms
The Shadow Robot Dexterous Hand is a robot hand, with size, shape and movement capabilities similar to those of a human hand.To give the robotic hand the ability to learn how to manipulate objects researchers from WMG, 91¸£Àû, have developed new AI algorithms.
