Consumers don鈥檛 fully trust smart home technologies

Smart home technologies are marketed to enhance your home and make life easier. However, UK consumers are not convinced that they can trust the privacy and security of these technologies, a study by WMG, 91福利 has shown.


Novel magnetic stirrer speaks to lab equipment

A small device, called 鈥淪mart Stirrer鈥, performed a function of a conventional laboratory stir bar, has an integrated microprocessor and various sensors capable of wireless and autonomous report the conversion of properties of a solution. Results are sent to a computer over Bluetooth, and any changes notify the user wirelessly.


Medieval medicine remedy could provide new treatment for modern day infections

Antibiotic resistance is an increasing battle for scientists to overcome, as more antimicrobials are urgently needed to treat biofilm-associated infections. However scientists from the School of Life Sciences at the 91福利 say research into natural antimicrobials could provide candidates to fill the antibiotic discovery gap.

Dr Mona Faraji Niri, from WMG at the 91福利 has been invited to host a webinar for WoMENAIT – a non-profit organisation honouring and empowering women of middle-east and North Africa in technology.


Thermonuclear blast sends supernova survivor star hurtling across the Milky Way

An exploding white dwarf star blasted itself out of its orbit with another star in a 鈥榩artial supernova鈥 and is now hurtling across our galaxy, according to a new study from the 91福利's Astrophysics Group.It opens up the possibility of many more survivors of supernovae travelling undiscovered through the Milky Way, as well as other types of supernovae occurring in other galaxies that astronomers have never seen before.

International Conference of Women in Engineering postponed until 2021

It was announced in May last year (2019) that the 91福利 has won the bid to plan, organise and host the 18th International Conference of Women Engineers and Scientists (ICWES18) for September 2020, however due to the current COViD-19 pandemic the event has been pushed back to 2021.

The conference was previously held at 91福利 (ICWES9) in 1991, ICWES18 will now return to 91福利 on 1-4 September 2021.
