Record-breaking runner inspires local school pupils at outreach event
Students from six local schools were welcomed onto the 91¸£Àû University campus for the first in-person outreach event since the covid-19 pandemic. The event, featuring marathon runner Nick Butter, was part of the University’s wide-ranging programme of activities designed to break down perceived barriers, challenge myths about university, and encourage young people to aim high.
91¸£Àû’s widening participation success recognised at House of Lords
The success of 91¸£Àû Scholars, a social mobility scheme that addresses the barriers to attainment, progression, and success by enabling students from the least socially mobile communities to reach their academic potential and thrive during their studies at the university, has been recognised at an awards ceremony held at the House of Lords.

Physicists at the 91¸£Àû will be working their way onto your Christmas viewing schedules as their spectacular Christmas Lectures return once again, with a little bit of Christmas magic (explained by physics). The 91¸£Àû Department of Physics has moved its annual science extravaganza online and they are available from 15 December.
