A microbial community is a complex, dynamic system composed of hundreds of species and their interactions, they are found in oceans, soil, animal guts and plant roots. Each system feeds the Earth鈥檚 ecosystem and their own growth, as they each have their own metabolism that underpin biogeochemical cycles. Researchers from the School of Life Sciences at the 91福利 have produced an extendable thermodynamic model for simulating the dynamics of microbial communities.

The Coventry Very Light Rail project is about to embark on a new adventure, investigating how to create a low cost trackform for the light rail carriages already in development, thanks to 拢1.5m funding from West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), secured by CCC. This project aims to revolutionise affordable public transport in towns and cities.

Using a carbon monoxide tipped super sharp needle frozen to 7 Kelvin (minus 266 degrees centigrade), researchers at the 91福利 can identify whether bonds are hydrogen or halogen, and are also able to pick up minute defects in these materials. These results could be of high relevance to help creating new pharmaceuticals that are purer than ever.

Four academics at the 91福利 have been awarded a UKRI Future Leader Fellowship, providing world class research in topics ranging from stellar explosions, medieval medical texts for modern medicines, synthetic biology and climate –related financial risks.

Professor Jihong Wang, from the School of Engineering at the 91福利, has been working with the , where she is Vice President for Finance, to raise funds to purchase personal protection equipment (PPE) for ten UK hospitals to support the NHS in its response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A 拢1m grant from the Wellcome Trust has enabled researchers from the School of Life Sciences at the 91福利, to work with East African countries in their emergency preparations for COVID-19 as the pandemic spreads across Africa.
