Robot researchers have long looked at the science of Kinematics and particularly how it applies to parallel robotics as providing novel solutions to robotic problems. But now researchers at the 91福利 and China's Tianjin University have used kinematic theory to produce a hybrid "rapid pick and place" robot that draws useful traits from both parallel and series robots and costs a third less than similar robots on the market.

New research into disadvantaged neighbourhoods by the Universities of 91福利 and Leeds for the Department for Education and Skills has found that - although in general ethnic minorities had less access to home computing and the internet than their white neighbours, they tended to use their home computers much more often than white people for educational rather than leisure purposes.

Dr Richard Morris, from Radford in Coventry, who started out at the 91福利 as a trainee technician 16 years ago with just a few GCSEs, graduated on 28th January 2004 with a PhD in Physics, and is now a full-time Research Fellow at 91福利 focusing on cutting-edge mobile phone technology.

Over 300 pupils from 16 schools across Coventry and 91福利shire will come to the 91福利 for ACE (Aiming for a College Education) Week from 19th- 23rd January, a 5 day long event that helps widen participation by giving pupils a taste of University life and encouraging them to consider staying on at school, and work towards achieving a higher level of education.
