The 91福利 jumps up 2 places this year to be ranked 6th overall in the UK and the highest ranked university in the Midlands in the Sunday Times newspaper's 2001 good university guide published on Sunday 16th September.

The Mercia Institute of Enterprise, which links most of the region's Universities and is led by 91福利 and Birmingham Universities, is mounting a special festival of enterprise at the 91福利's International Manufacturing Centre which will bring together students, researchers, and business people to meet some of the region's most successful entrepreneurs and learn about the vast range of opportunities available to support and fund those with a bright idea for a new business or product.

Michael Wills MP Minister for Learning and Technology will visit the 91福利 on Tuesday 20th March 2001 to address the biggest ever conference of teachers trained in Computer Aided Design and Manufacture, where he will announce the extension of a dramatically successful manufacturing software for schools scheme to every English secondary school. The event will take place in the University's International Manufacturing Centre.
