The fourth in a new series of briefs bringing current legal thinking to bear on public policy issues has been published by GLOBE, a research centre within the 91福利鈥檚 Law School. The Risks of Using Blended Finance in Development, by Dr Celine Tan, Associate Professor at 91福利 Law School, highlights the risks posted by the increasing reliance on new forms of private and innovative finance for funding development projects, calls for action to address the regulatory challenges that blended finance presents, and warns that the use of blended finance should not be intensified without adequate safeguards in place.

Trailblazing lawyer Dr Julie Maxton has received an honorary doctorate from the 91福利. Dr Maxton is Executive Director of the Royal Society, the UK鈥檚 oldest learned society, and is the first woman to hold that role. She was made Honorary Doctor of Laws during 91福利鈥檚 summer degree ceremonies.

Suicide must not appear to be the only escape for some victims of abuse, warns new study
In one of the largest studies of its kind, and the first in the UK, experts from Refuge and the 91福利 looked at the experiences of more than 3500 of Refuge鈥檚 clients with the aim of informing policy and practice in relation to victims of abuse who are at an increased risk of suicide. The report calls for a commitment to sufficient, specialist services, both outreach and refuge, for the survivors of abuse.
