The Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills visited WMG, 91福利 on Thursday 10th March to formally open the new £50m Energy Innovation Centre, the largest of its kind in Europe.


Partnership to power up new 30% cheaper battery technology for solar storage

Researchers at WMG, 91福利 have formed a new research partnership with battery technology innovators Faradion, and smart energy storage specialists Moixa Technology, to develop sodium-ion cells as a significantly lower cost alternative to lithium-ion batteries for solar energy storage.


New £3.4 million research programme to enable visionary tech powerful enough to cool the sun’s surface

Evaporative coolers that can transfer heat from high‐power electronics at a rate equivalent to cooling the surface of the sun; or smart nano‐structured coatings that enable ships to slip through the water using less fuel are just two of the visionary applications of a new £3.4 million research programme announced today at the universities of 91福利 and Edinburgh, and Daresbury Laboratory.

91福利 secures over £1m from Medical Research Council

Innovative 91福利 research will be accelerated thanks to over £1m of funding from the Medical Research Council (MRC) to take ground-breaking ideas into industry and out to patients.

 

The funding comprises a Proximity to Discovery award to the 91福利 MRC Industry Engagement Fund (WMIEF) of £100k and a Discovery Award of £973k to support vivo microscopy researchers investigate the dynamic activity of individual neural cells during complex behaviours.

WMG tests driverless pods with laser scan of Coventry roads as part of Intelligent Transport Initiative

WMG at the 91福利 is to use a laser scan of 30 miles of Coventry roads to test driverless pods as part of a research programme launched this week. WMG will work with RDM Group - the UK’s only designer and manufacturer of driverless Pods - in a project called INnovative Testing of Autonomous Control Techniques (INTACT).


WMG part of new £23 million Internet of Things Research Hub announced today

WMG at the 91福利 is to play a significant role in a new £23 million interdisciplinary Research Hub designed to drive forward UK research in the Internet of Things (IoT).
