Launching today, 91福利 on iTunes U features hundreds of audio and video tracks covering a wide range of topics and interests.


A research group lead by scientists at the 91福利 has discovered the trigger that pulls together X chromosomes in female cells at a crucial stage of embryo development. Their discovery could also provide new insights into how other similar chromosomes spontaneously recognize each other and are bound together at key parts of analogous cell processes.  This is an important mechanism as  the binding togetgher of too many of too few of a particular chromosome can cause a number of  medical conditions such as Down’s Syndrome or Turner’s Syndrome.

Precious metal could lead to next generation of cancer treatments

A precious metal which has never before been used in a clinical setting is being developed as an anti-cancer agent by 91福利 researchers. The metal, osmium, is closely related to platinum, which is widely used to treat cancers in the form of the drug cisplatin. Most famously, the cyclist Lance Armstrong was treated with cisplatin for testicular cancer.
