A big congratulations and a huge well done to WMG technician Shaun Dixon who has been shortlisted for a Papin Prize this year.

Shaun has been shortlisted for the category- Contribution to Infrastructure.

The shortlisting is well deserved and we wish Shaun all the best of luck at HETS 2021 where the winner will be announced.

Tom Moore, Engineering Technician in 91福利 Manufacturing Group (WMG) has won the Tata Steel UK Customer Experience Recognition Award, in partnership with Professor Claire Davis, Dr Geoff West and Dr Tara Schiller, all also WMG. Tom works in the Advanced Manufacturing and Materials Centre and specialises in electron microscopy techniques.

On winning the award and working with industry, Tom said ''Working with our industrial partners is a rewarding part of the job, it allows us to help solve real world engineering problems using advanced microscopy techniques. I really appreciate my skills being recognised''

Pioneering Leadership Programme Launches To Tackle Workforce Imbalance

 Are you a current or aspiring woman technician who is keen to develop your leadership skills? 

 The Research-England funded has created the UK鈥檚 first leadership programme designed for people in technical roles who identify as women. The Herschel Programme for Women in Technical Leadership is a national six-month programme which includes modules on self-awareness, leading in a technical environment, negotiation skills and navigating the organisation. It also offers unique opportunities for networking. The course is completely free.
