Since 2021, with have worked closely with the EY Foundation to deliver employability programmes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. As a result of the partnership and engaging with young people on employability programmes, the Social Inclusion Team launched the Early Career Internship Programme to provide entry level employment opportunities.

In the first year, we welcomed one intern for a six-month placement and the success of that experience paved the way for an expanded programme. Now, each year we take on three driven and talented interns for a 12-month journey of personal and professional development.

These opportunities transform young people鈥檚 confidence and aspirations.

Throughout their internship these young professionals get real work experience in a host department, professional development sessions, and the chance to earn a Level 3 qualification.

Our interns' successes are a testament to the power of this programme.

We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our interns and the impact of the programme so far. Interns have gone on to:

• Securing permanent employment.
• Winning an award at the EY Impact Awards.

The intern programme is not just about the work, it鈥檚 about growth, discovery and stepping into a future filled with possibilities. Each day is an opportunity to learn, connect and make a lasting impact.

We are building momentum and gaining recognition for this work.

We are pleased to have built a longstanding partnership with the EY Foundation, and to have been the first higher education institution to collaborate with them in this way. Through this pioneering partnership we are continuing to create meaningful opportunities for young people.
