Launching celebration of our ENHANCE Humanitarian Engineering Network of Experts!

The University of West Attica (UNIWA) celebrated the launching of our very own ENHANCE Humanitarian Engineering Network of Experts.

The Vice Chancellor UNIWA, Professor Panagiotis Kaldis, acknowledging the importance of bringing together expertise to address the world' biggest challenges invited experts and subjects specialists across all disciplines stated,

This Network of Experts represents an earnest appeal for cooperation, inventive thinking, and the pooled knowledge and skills necessary to address the most urgent contemporary challenges, with the aim of shaping a future of equity and inclusion.

Our Project Coordinator receives ‘Distinguished Woman in Engineering’ award

Our Project Coordinator, Professor Georgia Kremmyda, has received the International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES) 'Distinguished Woman in Engineering' award. The award acknowledges Georgia's contribution to helping young engineers across the world respond to humanity’s biggest challenges. Our ENHANCE project has been highlighted as a driver for this achievement considering the immense impact of our work in transforming Engineering education in Asia. ENHANCE Concluding Symposium

In a momentous one-day event held at the prestigious Institute of Civil Engineers in London, the Enhance Concluding Symposium brought together project partners to celebrate the successful outcomes and impact of the project. The symposium showcased the transformative power of ENHANCE in curriculum development, staff and student experience and marked the commitment to our sustained application in various fields.

ENHANCE Taster Event (UK)

Our second ENHANCE taster event that took place in Coventry UK, 27 February – 8 March 2023, organized by the 91��. The event included a Conference for showcasing humanitarian engineering education and research, titled “Engineering and Science for Deeply Uncertain Times”, project management activities, design and make activities with students, training on sustainable education, educational trips to sustainable communities (e.g. Hockerton housing project) and field trip to the 91�� Crop Centre for sustainable agriculture, horticulture and food security discussions and activities. Almost 40 lecturers from the partner institutions joined the event activities. ENHANCE Training Kit, ENHANCE app and ENHANCE Taxonomy were widely introduced to lecturers. More awareness about innovative pedagogical approaches in humanitarian engineering was raised.

Three dissemination events in Bangladesh, Indonesia and Vietnam

ENHANCE delivered a series of dissemination events in the three partner countries in October 2022. These events brought together experts, stakeholders, and the public to showcase the project's breakthroughs, fostering greater understanding and engagement with cutting-edge innovations. Our events involved more than 400 attendees. Key highlights of the events were the ENHANCE Taxonomy, App and Training Kit attracting interest and enthusiasm about their transformative power in higher education.

ENHANCE Taster Event (Greece)

An ENHANCE Taster Event took place in Athens Greece 8-20 Sept 2022, organized by the University of West Attica. The event included project management activities, 4 days of seminars and activities for lecturers and 4 days of Humanitarian Engineering Symposium. Almost 40 lecturers from the partner institutions joined the event activities. ENHANCE Training Kit, ENHANCE app and ENHANCE Taxonomy were widely introduced to lecturers. More awareness about innovative pedagogical approaches in humanitarian engineering was raised.

ENHANCE Training Events

Three training events delivered in Bangladesh, Indonesia and Vietnam in July-August 2022

The Enhance project hosted comprehensive training events focused on three vital components: our Taxonomy, App, and the Training Kit for innovative pedagogies. These workshops gathered educators, researchers, and technology enthusiasts eager to explore the potential of these tools in revolutionizing teaching practices. Participants received hands-on training on how to effectively implement the taxonomy system, utilize the innovative app to enhance learning experiences, and make the most of the training kit to integrate new and creative pedagogies into their classrooms. The events proved to be a resounding success, equipping attendees with the skills and knowledge to foster a dynamic and future-ready educational landscape.

Our training events attracted more than 350 attendees.
