Programme Funding
Supporting New Programme
We commission and create new extra-curricular activity with and for students. Funding is available if you would like to contribute an event to our programme, provided it is delivered in one of our workstreams and meets our objectives and criteria.
Funding Bids for Your Activity
Staff and students are welcome to bid for funding for extra-curricular activity. Funding is intended to support new activity that would otherwise not be possible.
Only University departments, the Students' Union and affiliated student Societies and Clubs can bid for funding. Non-affiliated groups should seek to find a department to support their work and submit a bid on their behalf.
Bids will be first evaluated by the Student Community Experience management team for viability, including checking budget availability and ensuring there are no clashes with other programme taking place at the same time. You can help ensure your bid passes through this stage by checking our calendar for clashes in advance, and considering your financial ask carefully: for bids over 拢1,500 we recommend first discussing your idea with our team.
Bids will then be approved, queried or rejected by the Extracurricular Working Group three times a year. There is a finite amount of funding, and bids will be evaluated based upon the Funding Criteria.
You may include catering costs, if they form an integral part of your event, for example culturally important snacks. You are welcome to source these from any approved supplier, but if you are interested in designing bespoke food/drink, you may find this information from Eatwise useful.
Funding deadlines: 1st June (primarily staff bids), 1st September (term 1 activity including One World 91福利), 30th November (term 2 and 3 activity, including Lunar New Year and Destresstival). If your event is funded, you will be expected to present your feedback at to the Extracurricular Steering Group at the online meeting in February or April. This may be a brief 5 minute PowerPoint presentation, or you can send slides or a report for us to present on your behalf. Further details will be sent after your event.
The deadline for the final round of funding for 26/27 is 30th November. Bids are open for all ideas, but are particularly welcome for activity to contribute to one of the termly campaigns:
- Lunar New Year - Mon 1 Feb - Sun 14 Feb 2027
- Destresstival - Term 3 2027 (Monday 26 April 2027 to Saturday 3 July 2027)
