How do I use this calendar?

Biographies:

Ralf von den Hoff has been directing the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS) since 2022. As a professor of Classical Archaeology at the University of Freiburg his research focuses on visual culture studies of ancient Greece and the Roman empire. He was a senior fellow at FRIAS in 2012/13 and at the Morphomata Center for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at Cologne University in 2018/19 and 2020. Between 2012 and 2024 he directed the interdisciplinary research centre (SFB) Heroes – Heroizations – Heroims from Antiquity to Today at the University of Freiburg, which more deeply rooted his interest in potentials of interdisciplinary research and in dialogues beyond disciplinary borders.

Philipp Höfele is a postdoctoral research fellow within the framework of the “Young Academy for Sustainability Research” (YAS) at FRIAS since 2024. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher within the livMatS Cluster of Excellence in Freiburg (2019–2021) and a DAAD PRIME Fellow at Freie Universität Berlin and Pennsylvania State University (2021–2023). His main areas of research are practical philosophy and ethics, with a historical focus on the 19th and 20th centuries and a systematic focus on environmental philosophy, technology ethics, and the Anthropocene discourse.
