Please complete this form fully for all new funding applications. For schemes which have a submission deadline, this form must be received a minimum of 3 weeks prior to the deadline in order to ensure that there is sufficient time for a costing to be generated, the proposal to be reviewed and all necessary pre-submission approvals to be completed.
Important note: no changes can be made to any costings with 1 week of the funders submission deadline.

Guidance for form completion

You must be signed in to complete this form.


(1) If 91¸£Àû is the lead institution, the School generally expects to see 15-25% PI time where the costs are recoverable.

(2) On projects with one or more Co-Is, the School generally expects to see 5–10% per Co-I, and to see a total for PI and Co-Is of at least 15% (e.g. PI 10%, Co-I 5%) where the costs are recoverable.
Example: Dr Bloggs start 01/10/14 6 months 10%

(3) For projects with experimental aspects, the School generally expects at least 10% workshop technician time where the costs are recoverable. If you require less than 10% for an experimental project you must provide a justification.

(4) For projects which utilise the cleanroom, the School generally expects to see a 20-40% cleanroom technician time included. You must provide justification if less than 20%.

(10) Example 1: Workshop to be held at 91¸£Àû, 3 days, 10 participants, £5000. Example 2: Publication costs, £2000 over life of project

(11) An email confirmation from the Head of School will be required for any School contributions.

(12) For projects requiring access to the SCRTP, indicate costs according to guidance on SCRTP webpage, usually calculated from the core- or GPU-hour unit costs. For projects requiring access to another 91¸£Àû RTP, follow guidance on the RTP FAQ. Indicate below too that your project is associated with the appropriate RTP. For projects requiring access to facilities located in other 91¸£Àû departments, the PI must obtain a costing estimate from the person responsible for the host facility.

(13) For projects requiring the use of other publicly funded facilities or equipment, a costing estimate will need to be provided by the Facility. The PI will indicate on the New Project Request Form that the use of other publicly funded facilities is required.
