Chantal Baer (Cohort 4) Featured in Faraday Battery Day 2026 Careers Event
Held on 18 March 2026, the event brought together students, researchers, and professionals from across the battery sector to explore career pathways within battery science, sustainable energy, and battery innovation. The session aimed to inspire the next generation of researchers by highlighting opportunities across academia, industry, and interdisciplinary research environments.
As part of the event, Chantal joined fellow speakers Alen Maguire and Christian Pilling to share insights into careers within the battery research sector and discuss different pathways into the field. The session also provided attendees with an opportunity to learn more about the rapidly growing battery research community and the skills and experiences that can support future careers in the area.
The event formed part of the wider activities surrounding the 2026 Faraday Undergraduate Summer Experience (FUSE) internships programme. Chantal’s journey was highlighted as an example of how early research experiences can lead to further opportunities within the battery research community. After completing a FUSE internship in 2021, Chantal later became a Faraday Institution PhD researcher in 2022.
Hosted by The Faraday InstitutionLink opens in a new window, Faraday Battery Day continues to play an important role in supporting and promoting talent development across the UK battery ecosystem.
HetSys CDT is delighted to see Chantal representing the CDT at a national careers event and contributing to discussions that encourage and inspire future researchers working at the intersection of computational modelling, materials science, and sustainable energy technologies.
