How do I use this calendar?

You can click on an event to display further information about it.

The toolbar above the calendar has buttons to view different events. Use the left and right arrow icons to view events in the past and future. The button inbetween returns you to today's view. The button to the right of this shows a mini-calendar to let you quickly jump to any date.

The dropdown box on the right allows you to see a different view of the calendar, such as an agenda or a termly view.

If this calendar has tags, you can use the labelled checkboxes at the top of the page to select just the tags you wish to view, and then click "Show selected". The calendar will be redisplayed with just the events related to these tags, making it easier to find what you're looking for.

These support pump-priming projects that aim to ensure that innovative science, technology, applications and expertise developed through the STFC core science programme and STFC facilities are harnessed, in order to provide solutions to global challenges and to promote economic development and welfare of developing countries. Grants are worth up to £62,500 each at 80 per cent full economic cost over nine months. The total budget is approximately £500,000.

Research Councils UK, in collaboration with the Indonesia Science Fund, the Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education Republic of Indonesia (Ristekdikti), the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, the Department of Science and Technology Philippines, and the Thailand Research Fund, under the Newton Fund programme, invite applications for their UK – Southeast Asia small scale research partnerships call. This aims to deliver research that will provide new insights and stimulate creative thinking to tackle real world problems, and it will contribute to the economic development and welfare of Southeast Asia. Collaborative research should address the following topics:

•creative economy and cultural heritage;

•energy, food, water-environment nexus;

•mental health;

•capacity building in big data and technology development through astronomy;

•skills for using large facilities.

The longer term objective is to establish sustainable collaborations between UK and Southeast Asian researchers that will increase the competitiveness of these researchers in gaining funds for excellent research in future funding calls, either under the Newton Fund or through other routes. Small scale grants are not intended to support a logical progression of an already established research project or other types of ongoing work; therefore, the nature of these awards will be more exploratory.

All projects must have a UK partner and a Southeast Asian partner from one of the participating countries. The UK principal investigator and research organisation must be eligible to apply according to the relevant research council’s guidance. Early career researchers are particularly encouraged to apply.

Funding is available for one to two years for flexible short-term projects.

EPSRC invites proposals for collaborative research projects to undertake ambitious multidisciplinary research that will advance the development, deployment and/or management of novel technologies to maximise performance of assets and systems in extreme environments. In particular we are looking for research focusing on the application of remote or autonomous technologies in the challenge areas described in the call. The call aims to bridge the gap between the fundamental development of sensors and related technologies and the application of these in extreme or challenging environments.

Once funding decisions have been made on the research projects, EPSRC plans to support an individual to act as champion for funded projects and the area more widely. The Champion will facilitate collaboration across funded projects as well as engaging users of the research.

This call is jointly funded by the Research Councils UK Energy Theme, the EPSRC Engineering Theme and the Theme and we welcome research in the energy use of sensors as well as the application of this technology in the energy sector. Projects submitted to this call should align to the outcome framework described by the EPSRC Delivery Plan, particularly in the areas of Connectivity, Resilience and Productivity.

The call closes at 16.00 on 02 August 2016. Up to £4-6M is allocated to this call subject to quality and availability of funds, and we expect to fund 3-5 projects for a period of three years.
