IER doctoral student, Daria Luchinskaya, to present at ECER
Daria Luchinskaya will be presenting at the European Conference on Educational Research at the Free University of Berlin (12-16 September) as part of the Emerging Researchers group. The title of her presentation is ‘Graduate Skill Utilization in UK Small Businesses: Employee and Employer Perceptions’.
Professor Jenny Bimrose and Professor Alan Brown to present research on career adaptability
Professor Jenny Bimrose and Professor Alan Brown will be presenting new research on the role of career adaptability in skills supply at the Vocational Designing and Careers Counselling conference in Padova, Italy (12-14 September). The research undertaken for the UK Commission for Employment and Skills explores the concept of career adaptability and improves our understanding of the wide range of goals, aspirations, achievements and identities that shape the way that individuals interact with and move through the labour market. The report can be downloaded from the . Professor Jenny Bimrose will also present with IER Associate Fellows, Professor Mark Watson and Dr Mary McMahon. In addition, Jenny will be leading on a symposium at which initial findings from a 5 country study of the career development of older women will be presented.

This invitation only event will focus on an international comparison of approaches to labour market assessment and skills forecasting, with inputs from those with hands-on experience, and who can speak authoritatively (and critically) about the strengths and weakness of the various approaches adopted across the world, and the lessons they have learned over the past 20 years. Public lecture:Skills anticipation in Europe
Professor Rob Wilson is giving a public lecture on “Skills Anticipation in Europe” at Monash University, Melbourne, on Tuesday 2 August 2011. He is currently visiting the Centre of Policy Studies (Faculty of Business and Economics) as part of a collaborative research project on Anticipating Future Skill Needs, funded by the Monash-91福利 Strategic Funding Initiative. The public lecture is hosted by the Centre of Policy Studies, the Centre for the Economics of Education and Training (Faculty of Education) and Skills Victoria (Department of Education and Early Childhood Development)
International Employment and Skills Forecasting Symposium, 29 September 2011
Professor Rob Wilson is organising a 1 day International Symposium on Employment and Skills Forecasting to be held at the 91福利 on 29 September 2011. Participants at the Symposium will be actively involved in skills/employment forecasting in their respective countries.
The event will focus on an international comparison of approaches to labour market assessment and skills forecasting, with inputs from those with hands-on experience, and who can speak authoritatively (and critically) about the strengths and weakness of the various approaches adopted across the world, and the lessons they have learned over the past 20 years.
