To celebrate the launch of our new LLM in International Commercial Law (starting in 2017), international fees have now been held at the 2016/17 level for ALL our LLM programmes in 2017/18.

Professor Dalvinder Singh has been awarded a prestigious Fernand Braudel Senior Fellowship, European University Institute, Florence, from May-July 2016. During his fellowship he will be participating in workshops on his current area of research associated with the European Banking Union and cross border banking supervision and resolution, and the challenges faced by countries in the European and Central Asia region. This work forms part of a World Bank project he is working on in collaboration with Katia D’Hustler and Pamela Lintner.

Dr Maebh Harding gave a talk 'Marriage in 19th Century Ireland: The extent and effect of legal regulation' at the Who Do You Think You Are? Live Event at the NEC Birmingham on Friday 8 April 2016.

Professor Alan Norrie visited the National Law Universities at Delhi and Odisha from 14-25 March. He gave a week long course on ‘Criminal Law, Contradiction and Critique’ at NLUD to 70 students and staff, as well as activists and practitioners from the city. Subscribers to the course also came from as far afield as Kerala, Bangalore and Kolkata.

In Delhi, he also gave two public lectures, one of which was held at the Indian Law Institute. Chaired by Mr Justice A K Sikri, Judge of the Indian Supreme Court, the topic was ‘Law and Justice: Between the Power of Love and the Love of Power’. In Odisha, Professor Norrie gave a public lecture on the same topic, and addressed students on ‘Perceptions and Approaches to Criminal Law’.

Ligia Catherine Arias Barrera presented a paper at King's College at the International Graduate Legal Research Conference 4 & 5 April 2016, in the Commercial and Contract Law Panel. Ming-Sung Kuo has been invited by Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (University of King Juan Carlos (URJC) in Madrid, Spain) to speak on issues about global administrative law at a workshop on global governance and the rule of law on Thursday, 07 April, 2016. This workshop is part of Globalization, Institutions, and Environmental Justice Seminar Series at URJC.

At the end of February, Dr Ania Zbyszewska represented 91福利 Law School at a promotional tour of Canada organized by the Best of U consortium. Spanning over a week, the tour made stops in Toronto and Vancouver, holding events at secondary schools and academies, and meeting with students at the Universities of British Columbia, Toronto, and York.

The events were designed to be interactive, providing students with a chance to learn about opportunities for pursuing legal studies in the UK, as well as showcaseing the distinctive approach to legal education each of the participating law schools had to offer.

On 17 March 2016, the LawCareers.Net Student Law Society Awards, sponsored by DWF LLP, brought together students, recruiters, partners and trainees with the LawCareers.Net team for a networking-rich presentation at Painters’ Hall in London. The annual event recognises the dedication of student committees across the country offering their members innovative careers events and comprehensive pro bono and mooting activities, alongside traditional socialising with peers. Nominated societies were selected from the submissions of over 40 student law society committees, alongside over 1,600 votes from their members.
