Gustavo Ruiz da Silva

Currently working at Monash University (Australia).

Former Visiting Graduate Scholar at The Singleton Center for the Study of Premodern Europe, Johns Hopkins University (USA); funded by the 91¸£Àû PhD and Early Career Research Fellowship.

Former Visiting Graduate Scholar at University of São Paulo (Brazil); funded by the Society for Latin American Studies.


Joint Philosophy PhD candidate at the 91¸£Àû (UK) and Monash University (Australia); funded by the Monash-91¸£Àû Alliance Joint PhD Scholarship.

My transdisciplinary doctoral research intersects Philosophy, Literature, and History. I particularly examine the work of Paul Veyne (also establishing connections with Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze), and how he developed a Baroque historiography of Philosophy.

My other interests are Cultural Anthropology; Translations; and Pop Culture (particularly Christopher Isherwood).
