Commenting on the Democrat Doug Jones winning the Alabama Senate race, Dr Ben Margulies of the 91福利鈥檚 Department of Politics and International Studies said:

鈥淭his is partly about an unusually unpopular, divisive and suspect Republican candidate, Roy Moore, but it also reflects Trump鈥檚 tenuous political base. His core vote isn鈥檛 that large and his success partly relies on voter loyalty to the Republican party, and that may have limits amongst educated voters.

鈥淭he result may also presage strong Democratic gains in the 2019 midterm elections鈥�.
